    Job Vacancy as Senior Application Support Engineer (Oracle DBA’s)

    Our client, a multi national leading IT consultant which its strength are in Operational Support Systems (OSS) and Network Management Systems (NMS) is looking for two experienced Senior Application Support Engineer / Oracle DBA’s to join their excellent team.

    Reporting to the support manager; the incumbent will have extensive liaison with developers, IT infrastructure staff and end-users. His duties and responsibilities will include:

    • Administrating and maintaining Oracle environments
    • Performing level 2 customer support in Oracle and Solaris for the supported application platform
    • Controlling, maintaining and troubleshooting Development, QA and Support infrastructures
    • Assisting in deployment projects at customer premises (this proposes the opportunity to travel overseas)
    • Troubleshooting customer environments
    • Reviewing database designs for performance tuning purposes

    Mandatory Requirements:

    • I.T aligned tertiary qualification  
    • Minimum of 5 years experience with Oracle 8i, 9i, 10G RDBMS
    • Minimum of 2 years experience with Oracle Application Server (forms and reports) services for the WEB
    • Min 5 years experience with Oracle Forms and Reports (client-server)
    • Min 5 years experience with SUN/Solaris: 7, 8, 9, 10 Administration
    • Excellent database design knowledge
    • Advanced Database and SQL tuning skills 
    • Experience working in a large projects with 1000’s of concurrent users and large volume of transactions
    • Knowledge of Oracle Advanced Queuing
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Proven analytical skills 
    • Proven client focus in a service delivery environment
    • Proven ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines
    • Advanced knowledge of MS Windows NT/2000/XP and MS office applications

    Desirable Skills:

    • Knowledge of SDLC methodologies, processes and configuration management
    • Knowledge of software development tools
    • TCP/IP
    • Network security
